With the franchise tags set and days to go before the start of free agency, we'll get you ready for one of the more hectic weeks on the NFL calendar. The Philadelphia Eagles have plenty of cap space, but will they be able to land a big time free agent? We'll discuss that and LOTS more.
Later in the show, we'll sort through the recent spate of injuries in the NBA, take an early look at the Phillies at the start of spring training, and get you caught up on the rest of the past week in sports as only we can. So come and take a ride on The Broad Street Line: The future of sports talk radio has finally arrived.
"The Mad Scientist of Sports" Nick Ficorelli returns. However, this is not the average everyday sports show he is bringing back to the air waves. "The Mad Scientist" has created his own personal sports lab, and you, the audience, as well as many of his special guests, will be his test subjects. He will throw theories out, and you never know where they will be coming from. He will keep everyone guessing, and he will open his lab to any and all comers. Be prepared for "mad science" of sports at its best.
This week is a special epsiode of The Mad Scientist's Sports Lab, as at the start of the show, he welcomes Kansas City Royals legend Willie Mays Aikens into the lab. Aikens was once one of the most feared hitters of the late 1970' and early 1980's with the Royals, helping lead Kansas City to the AL pennant in 1980. However, drugs overcame him, and he ended up in prison for almost 20 years. However, since his release in 2008, Aikens has spoken at schools about his experiences and to the Royals’ young players, always hoping to return to baseball. In November 2008, he apologized to Royals fans and the people of Kansas City in the Kansas City Star. In 2011, he returned to the Royals Family in the organization, and has since wrote a book about his rise, fall, and rebirth "Safe At Home". As an extra added attraction, JP Muzio, former host of The Sports Ministry and Off The Wall, will be joining me on the interview.
Also appearing this week - 30 minutes into the show, Andrew Garda of NJ.com and Bleacher Report to talk some New Jersey college sports (Rutgers, Seton Hall and more); at the top of the second hour, Derek Helling of Outside Pitch MLB returns to preview the American League West; and for the last 30 minutes, Matt Zemek of The Student Section to talk some NCAA Basketball and a Preview to March Madness.
The beacons are lit, the experiments are set, and "The Mad Scientist's Sports Lab" is open for study!!!
Sports fans!!! Join us for another 2 hours of the rawest sports talk on the net.
We’ll recap the week in sports, including initial thoughts on the long overdue Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao bout, the latest in the NBA, highlights from the NFL Combine, Derrick Rose’s latest knee injury, and a whole lot more!
“This portion of the revolution will not be televised, but EVERYBODY can listen.”
Don’t miss it!!!
The Philadelphia 76ers were the most active team at last week's NBA trading deadline, and The Broad Street Line will break down all the deals and what they mean going forward. Did Sam Hinkie just hit the "Reset" button on the Sixers' rebuilding plan? We'll answer that question and LOTS more.
Also, with the 2015 NFL Combine in the books, we'll look at which players improved their draft stock, which players fell, and we'll reset the draft board as we head into Pro Day season. Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston are the standouts, but this is a fairly deep draft class... if you know where to look.
So, for all of that and more, come and take a ride on The Broad Street Line: The future of sports talk radio has finally arrived.
